Ray Whitfield

Ray Whitfield, B.A. (Psych) is an experienced teacher and educational administrator, with Board experience in both the educational and financial sectors. Ray’s teaching experience has been in secondary school and the TAFE sector in the ACT. While in Canberra, Ray worked in the research section of the Commonwealth Department of Education and Science and was later seconded to a research role at the Australian National University. He held roles within the Schools Commission Secretariat that involved liaison with ACER, was Senior Policy Advisor and Director of the General Recurrent Grants and Disadvantaged Schools Programs in the Schools Commission in Canberra. Ray was later Director of the NSW Office of the Commonwealth Schools Commission. While serving in this role he was a member of the NSW Advisory Committee on Special Education.

Ray was the Deputy Director of the Association of Independent schools NSW for more than 20 years. In this role he had administrative responsibility for a number of programs, including Capital works and Computer Education, which involved liaising with State and Federal Government agencies. He was also chair of the Block Grant Authority, which conducted financial assessments of independent schools applying for Federal Capital Grants. Ray was a member of the Non Government Schools Superannuation Board for more than six years.
