Certification Types & Fees

Types of InSpEd Certification

Thank you for your interest in joining InSpEd! Below are 3 simple steps to apply for Certification.

  1. Review our certification types and select a level.
  2. You will be taken to a “Membership Checkout” page. This page asks you to provide profile information, including your name, desired username, email address, a password. You will also be required to provide us with information on your Qualifications and Work Experience.
  3. If the selected certification type has a fee, you will also be asked to enter payment information in order to complete your application Your access will not be confirmed until a successful subscription payment has been received.

An application fee of $100 will be charged for those applying to be certified as New Graduate Special Educators and Certified Special Educators. If the application is approved, this amount will be deducted from the first year’s annual fee.

New Graduate Special Educator

A New Graduate Special Educator has a recognised qualification in Special Education as determined by the InSpEd Expert Panel but has less than three years experience in a Special Education role. In order to maintain accreditation or to apply for a higher level of accreditation, New Graduate Special Educators need to have completed the specified hours of professional development.

Certified Special Educator

A Certified Special Educator has a recognised qualification in Special Education, as determined by the InSpEd Expert Panel, and at least three years experience in a Special Education role. In order to maintain accreditation, Certified Special Educators need to have completed the specified hours of professional development.

Student Special Educator

A Student Special Educator is enrolled in a course that is recognised by the Expert Panel as a qualification in Special Education. In order to maintain status as a Student Special Educator the student must provide evidence of enrolment for each calendar year. To apply for recognition as a New Graduate Special Educator, a Student Special Educator must provide evidence of having completed their approved course.
